Pastor MaryAnn Purtill began her ministry with the Columbia Congregational United Church of Christ on February 1, 2021.

Pastor MaryAnn has a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School and was ordained as a UCC minister in 2013.  Most recently, she has been serving as the sole Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Marion, MA.  

Prior to Marion, MA, Pastor MaryAnn served as an Associate Pastor at the Marlborough Congregational Church in Connecticut.  While at the Marlborough church, she also worked at the Masonic Health Center as a staff chaplain.  While attending seminary, she was a student intern at Windsor Congregational Church, a chaplain at Hartford Hospital, and Director of Christian Education at St. James Episcopal Church in Glastonbury.

Pastor MaryAnn brings her varied background and life experiences to the pulpit with joy and enthusiasm.  Mission and service are at the heart of her ministry and she takes great joy in assisting others in finding their ministry.  Her passion is spirit filled worship.  She challenges herself to go to those places where she can meet those in need, commune with those who maybe doubtful and encourage partnerships that strengthen the church.  Her greatest challenge and joy are bringing people together, spiritually, and physically into the Body of Christ. 

Pastor MaryAnn lives in Glastonbury.  She enjoys many outdoor hobbies such as gardening, hiking, and biking.  Some indoor hobbies include cooking and book discussions. She has an adult son who recently moved to Puerto Rico.
