Come Join God’s team:
where everyone is an ALL STAR!
The Christian Education program of the Columbia congregational church provides an effective curriculum for all ages. The program includes many different activities that focus on particular age groups in the church family. The mission of educational programs are to teach values for life, a faith in God, and enabling our children to see gods loving power in Jesus and to see that God cares for them in every circumstance. Our church school is taught by some highly dedicated and excited members of our congregation who volunteer their time and efforts to teach and share God’s love with our children. We believe that giving our children a strong foundation in the Christian life is the most important goal of our church school program.
On Sunday mornings during the school year, from 10am – 11:15am. Childcare is offered downstairs in our nursery for children 3 years and under, so parents are able to attend the church service.
Church school is held during the school year, (September thru June). Church school classes are held for children in preschool thru eighth grade, after which 9 graders attend the confirmation class. Children attend the worship service with their families until the children’s message portion of the service, and then they are dismissed to attend their church school classes accompanied by their teachers. Church school runs until 11:15am. The first Sunday of every month is Family Sunday and we encourage our children to attend and participate in the Holy Communion service. Our church school participates in many activities throughout the year including, Rally day, advent workshops, Retreats to Camp Asto Wamah, Church school picnics, Heifer farm trips, as well as activities to benefit the community, School bags, Health kits, collections for and trips to the local soup kitchen, helping at the local farmers market, car washes, assembling Holiday baskets for the salvation Army, and many other unique learning opportunities.
The church has a Confirmation program for 9th graders. This is a year in length. It includes discussion, hands on experiences and a significant role for adult mentors. The goal is to help the young people clarify their faith and put it into action.
ADULT BIBLE STUDY:
Our Adult Education includes a stimulating weekly Bible Study. There are also programs after Sunday worship from time to time as well as special programs to coincide with the church year.
